In this episode we will explore how the scarcity model, so common in post-secondary institutions currently, actually creates and reaffirms barriers to accessibility and inclusion. It uses the metaphor of finite amounts of cake to explore how biases become embedded in accessibility work, the harms of trickle-down inaccessibility when guidance is given from those not connected to disability community, and touches on how expertise can become weaponized in inclusion and equity space.

Sins Invalid. 10 Principles of Disability Justice
Research groups and people who are doing accessibility and disability support work in your geographical area and at your post-secondary institution. Reach out to discover the issues that may be impacting your particular space. Do your research carefully. Only after you have engaged actively can you then reflect on how you could possibly support these issues in the work you are doing. Know who is doing the work so you can then defer to those who have the particular experience and context.
Remember, if you have met one disabled person you have met one disabled person and people, learners, users, clients, are not robots.
